Important Documents:
- Travel documents: passport, visa, travel insurance, and other relevant tickets
- Physical copy of your legalised bachelor’s degree, police check and TEFL/ TESOL/ CELTA certificate
- Digital copy of your authenticated bachelor’s degree, police check and TEFL/ TESOL/ CELTA certificate
- Original signed medical check document (if applicable)
- Original copies, photocopies and electronic copies of all important documents (main passport pages, your visa etc.)
- Copy of important contacts at your school
- Passport Photos
- Chinese Yuan/ renminbi (the people’s currency) and/or credit/debit card
Clothes:
- Check the weather and climate in the city you are going to and pack accordingly
- Check with your school to see if there is a dress code for teachers
- Comfortable shoes
Electronics:
- Laptop
- Phone
- Camera
- Adaptor Plug
Other essential bits and bobs:
- Medication (a doctor’s note if prescribed)
- Toiletries and feminine products (if applicable)
- Face/body cream (many skincare products in China contain whitening cream/ skin lightening solutions)
- Insect repellent
- Small padlocks
- First aid kit and activated charcoal, in case of injury or foo
- Sunscreen, lip balm, and sunglasses
- Everything you can't live without (such as hair dryers, electric razors, and specialist beauty products etc.)
If you do forget something there is no need to worry as you will find most personal effects, clothes and electronics readily available in China.
