A Beginner’s Guide to Teaching in China: How to get your documents legalised (New Zealand)

Criminal Record Check

(must be within the six-month validity when you arrive in China)

Documents that are not issued by New Zealand government agency, such as power of attorney, academic records, must be notarised by a Notary Public in New Zealand. Please contact the Department of Internal Affairs of New Zealand if you are uncertain whether your documents require notarisation.

Fees vary between Notaries so you may want to phone more than one.

The Notary will produce a “Notarial Act” which states exactly what they have done, e. witnessed a signature or certified a true copy.
