Teacher’s Day and Mid-Autumn Festival in China in 2022

Teacher’s Day in China and Mid-Autumn Festival are celebrated annually in China. In 2022, these two holidays were celebrated on the same day in China; on the 10th of September. Let’s first speak about Mid-Autumn Festival.

1. Mid-Autumn Festival is a festival of mooncakes

The Mid-Autumn Festival is a traditional festival celebrated in Chinese culture every September, according to the Lunar Calendar. It is also known as the Moon Festival, or Mooncake Festival. The Moon is full on this Day. People gather in their family-circles together and celebrate the moon, the autumn harvest; share joy and happiness with each other. They prepare and eat mooncakes, a traditional biscuit with diverse types of pastries (made of meat; various vegetables; or different fruits). Mooncakes have a size 5-12 cm (2 to 4 inches) in diameter; and 4-5 cm (2 inches) deep.

Mooncakes are usually served with green tea that is famous and generally available in China all year round. Mid-Autumn Festival is one of the most important festivals for family reunions in China.
